We are deeply concerned about the rapid return of the Taliban to power in Afghanistan and the fate of Afghan citizens, particularly those men and women who aided the US-led democratization projects.

We Americans cannot idly stand by as our friends and colleagues are terrorized and traumatized, their lives destroyed. It is not who we are. We urge you to:

· Not abandon our loyal friends who trusted us: this is not sending the right lessons to future generations or to our international allies. What happened to our moral compass?

· Demand a stop to the tragedy and atrocities we see unfolding in real time.

· Support the resettlement of at least 180,000 refugees from Afghanistan over the next two years—this is the sam percentage per capita that Canada is working with.

· Expand refugee family reunion so that all Afghan refugees with family in the USA can safely reunite.

· Offer welcome and protection to Afghans seeking asylum in the USA no matter how they came to the USA.
